So I am having mixed emotions about the school year. I have a different feeling this year and it's sometimes a sad feeling because my baby boy starts kindergarten soon and sometimes I feel excited because we need to get on a routine and be more organized. Summer is great but we don't stay on a good routine and I feel disorganized.
Here are some things I am going to try to work on and try to stick with, because it's important to have the same routine for everyone. I will confess I am really good at starting things with good intentions but then life happens and it falls through. My goal is to stick with it for all of us to have a stress-free school year.
One of our big stuggles is getting ready in the morning. First of all he sleeps in. Then he takes for ever picking out his outfits. So I decided that every Sunday evening we are picking out 6 outfits and I got a organize hanging thing for closet where he can put his 6 things he can wear during the week. He will not be able to change his mind. Once worn it's done for the week. Another issue he has is getting up brushing his teeth and eating breakfast. So I will make a chore chart to remind him of his daily chores before school.
Some other ideas are to prepare his lunch meals on Sunday night and then every morning it will be easy to pack his lunch. Another great idea is to have a basket of snacks on the dining room table for after school so he can get his snack and either start homework or relax after a long day at school.
This is going to be a big change for my son and myself so we need to be less stressful and try to enjoy his first year in elementary school. He is not used to attending school 5 days a week and full days. So he will be more grumpy and tried. So being organized will be very helpful.
Hope some of these ideas can help you.
Have a great school year. Enjoy
